Overview

This course offers you a broad introduction into Art and Design. If working in these fields appeals, this vocational course will be a good choice for you. It will help you develop the basic skills, knowledge and qualities you need to progress.

Who is this course for?

Choose this course if you want to develop the skills to go on to a course that will lead you into the arts industry. This course is also a great choice if you want to develop your confidence and ability to work with others in a practical environment.

What you will study

On this course you will:

  • Learn different ways of using various 2D art materials
  • Develop your practical and creative skills
  • Develop your printmaking skills
  • Be able to go on work experience
  • Improve your ability in English and Maths
  • Learn how to create your own mood boards
  • Plan and market an exhibition of your coursework
Assessment

You will have assignments and coursework, with exams for Maths and English.

 

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including English Language and Maths.* 

Examples of work needs to be seen to ascertain skill level and ability and an interest in gaining a job in the arts is important. 

*If you do not achieve a grade 4 in GCSE English Language or Maths you may still be considered for this course, but you will be required to study this subject alongside your course.

Progression and careers

On successful completion of this course you may be able to progress to a Level 2 course, employment or an apprenticeship.
