Please note that many of the below links will be accessible to current learners only. For parents and guardians, please refer to your recent emails about results for further information.
How do I get my results?
If you are a second year Level 3 student (including A/AS Levels, T Levels, UAL and BTECs and other vocational qualifications) your results will be available online from 8.00am on Thursday 17 August. First year results will be available online from 10.00am.
Results are available through your My eILP on the correct results day and time as outlined above (remember that you might have different results days if you are retaking GCSEs alongside a level 3 course).
There will be support available online should you need it and via our Advice Line on 01392 400555. Students should log into their My eILP page via the Student Hub to see their results.
If you can’t access your account, you might need to reset your password.
What support will be available from College if I need it on my results day?
There will be a range of support available on results days and beyond.
- In person at the IoT (Hele Road Campus)
- Online and by phone.
We will be running a live chat function as well as a phone advice line on results days to offer general support and signposting. Both might get busy – please do check the FAQs below first as they might answer your query.
On results day you will find our Live Chat function on our College homepage, or you can phone our advice line on 01392 400555.
Please note, if you would like more in-depth advice about your next steps, you should contact our Future Steps team via your My eILP (to book an appointment), email futuresteps@exe-coll.ac.uk or call 01392 400330. You can find out more about clearing with this Ultimate Guide from UCAS.

Hints and tips to help you on results day
Before you collect your results
Ensure that you have access to your My eILP page by logging on to the system through the Student Hub before results day. If you can’t access the system, you might need to reset your password.
Update your contact details on My eILP, including your phone number, as we may need to contact you directly on results day.
See the Frequently Asked Questions below before contacting us:
I can’t access my login. I have tried resetting my password and still can’t get in to My eILP, what do I do?
You can unlock your account and reset your password by following the instructions on this page.
I am a second year and know from a UCAS email that I have not secured my first choice or insurance offer – I want to talk to someone about my results.
You can come into college from 8.00am to speak to one of the team or you can call the advice line on 01392 400555 which will be open from 8.00am.
Please do not use this line for general exam queries as we will be prioritising those who need clearing support.
Please contact us via the online chat on the website homepage instead. Thank you.
Where do I click into to see my results – and what information will I see on my results page?
Log in to your My eILP page on your results day (check the dates and times above). Simply click on the link from your homepage of your My eILP and you’ll be taken to a page with your results. You will see the following:
Result: this will be the overall grade you have been awarded for this qualification
Level: this refers to the level of qualification you have been awarded, for example GCSEs are level 2, A Levels are level 3 and vocational qualifications can be level 1, 2 or 3.
I have marginally missed out on the overall grade I needed to meet my university offer and they have asked for more detail on the breakdown of my results – where can I get this?
Contact us on the chat function or advice line and we will arrange for our exams team to get the information you need.
When will I receive my qualification certificates?
Certificates will be issued in November and you will receive notification informing you when and how you will be able to access these.
I’m a second year student who did better than I expected and might be able to get into a better university than I have an offer from. What should I do?
You can decline your firm choice offer place if you would prefer to go through the Clearing process.
You can contact us using our Live Chat function on the website or by calling 01392 400330 if you need support in deciding whether clearing is a good option for you.
I’m a second year student who has not met the required grades for my university choice. What do I do?
Please check the status of your UCAS application via Track. Many students find alternative courses through the UCAS clearing system which matches you with suitable courses that still have vacancies. Find out about clearing 2023.
For general support and signposting you can contact us via our Live Chat function on the website or by calling the results advice line on 01392 400555. If you are unsure what you want to do next you can get careers and next steps advice by contacting futuresteps@exe-coll.ac.uk or by calling 01392 400330.
I believe the awarding body might have marked my paper wrongly, can I ask for a re-mark?
If you wish to see your exam scripts or request a review or recheck of the marking please access this webpage where you will find details of all the services you can request, deadlines and fees. Please be aware that you must pay the fees through Wisepay at the time of submitting your request. Alternatively you can email examresultsenquiries@exe-coll.ac.uk for further advice.
I am a first year student and I’m not sure I have what I need to progress to my next steps in College and would like to talk to my tutor about what to do next, when can I speak to them?
For AS, year one and returning students, your first-year tutor will be in touch on Thursday 24th August to discuss your results and you will be invited in to discuss these on the morning of Friday 25th August if any changes are needed. If you feel you need to talk to somebody more urgently that this, please do not phone us for advice before 12pm on 17 August so we can first help second year students who need university clearing support.
I’m an AS student who has received one E or U grade – what are my options?
Learners who have not got what they need to carry on all three elements of their A Level programme have several options at the College:
- You can look at other AS levels you could sit alongside your two other A Level subjects. This can be a good option if you have achieved well in the two you are carrying on and there is an AS Level that would compliment them well and support your progression.
- You can look at alternative routes to your chosen progression. For example, our level 3 courses like T Levels, UAL and BTECs offer excellent progression to university. This can be a good option if you have found that A Level style final exam assessments do not always help you show your best performance – some learners do their best work in assignment work and so will get better UCAS points from an alternative level 3 course than A Levels.
- You might have decided that you are ready for a different type of learning and want to begin your journey into work. Apprenticeships at the College run in a very wide range of skills and professions – and can run right the way up to degree level.
You can start thinking about these options and use our online prospectus to support you or contact us on results day to start discussion and support. Your tutor will be in contact on 24th August to help you to finalise your decision and support your next steps.
I’m an AS student who has received E or U in two or more subjects, or I’m a first year BTEC student who has received a fail/U grade. What can I do?
First of all, do not panic. We have other options for you at Exeter College:
- You can look at alternative routes to your chosen progression. For example, our level 3 courses like T Levels, UAL and BTECs offer excellent progression to university. This can be a really good option if you have found that A Level style final exam assessments do not always help you show your best performance – some learners do their best work in assignment work and so will get better UCAS points from an alternative level 3 course than A Levels.
- You might have decided that you are ready for a different type of learning and want to begin your journey into work. Apprenticeships at the College run in a very wide range of skills and professions – and can run right the way up to degree level.
You can call email the Future Steps team on futuresteps@exe-coll.ac.uk to start exploring and researching these options or wait for your year one tutor to contact you on 24th August to discuss your options.
I am at the end of my first year in a BTEC – Why can I not see an overall BTEC result on my results page?
Some BTEC courses are two-year courses and so you will not receive an overall grade until the end of next year. When you return to College your tutor and teachers will share your unit grades with you.
What does my BTEC grade mean?
Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications
BTEC Level 1/2 Firsts | BTEC Level 1/ 2 Tech Awards | BTEC Level 2 Technicals |
---|---|---|
Level 2 Distinction (D) | Level 2 Distinction (L2D) | Distinction (D) |
Level 2 Merit (M) | Level 2 Merit (L2M) | Merit (M) |
Level 2 Pass (P) | Level 2 Pass (L2P) | Pass (P) |
Level 1 Pass (L1) | Level 1 Distinction (L1D) | |
Level 1 Merit (L1M) | ||
Level 1 Pass (L1) |
Level 3 qualifications
Single grade qualifications (e.g., National Certificates and National Foundation Diplomas) | If a qualification has multiple grades (e.g., a National Diploma/National Extended Diploma) then each grade is as follows: | BTEC Level 3 Nationals (teaching from 2014) BTEC (QCF) qualifications |
---|---|---|
Distinction Star – D* | Distinction star – D* | |
Distinction – DS | Distinction – D | Distinction (D) |
Merit – ME | Merit – M | Merit (M) |
Pass – PA | Pass – P | Pass (P) |
For example a triple grade of D*DD would be Distinction Star, Distinction, Distinction. | Near Pass (N) |
How does my T Level result relate to UCAS points?
I didn’t apply to university, but now I have my results I would like to go this year. How does clearing work?
You can apply to go to university through the clearing process.
What does it mean if I have internal AS results on my results page?
A small number of our A Level subjects (listed below) do not have an external AS exam so you will have sat an internal exam/assessment in June instead. Your result is internal because it is not an awarding body qualification.
- Year 1 French
- Year 1 German
- Year 1 Spanish
- Year 1 Philosophy
- Year 1 Environmental Science
- Year 1 Computer Science
- Year 1 Double Maths
- Year 1 Physical Education
- Year 1 Textiles
- Year 1 Fine Art
I’ve completed my first year successfully but would like to change one or more of my A Level subjects. What can I do?
Changes mid-way through a two-year course would be exceptional and only considered to enable a change in career progression. Your tutor will be in touch on 24th August to discuss results and options.
I’ve completed my first year of academic study and want to switch to a vocational course. Are there any options for me?
Your tutor will be in touch on 24th August to discuss options, and you should tell them your plan. They can support you in your next steps and make the necessary arrangements. I’m a second year student who would like to stay on at Exeter College to gain other qualifications. Are there any options for me?
If you are 18 and have completed study at level 3, we may have an option that would fit in with your progression ambitions. It will depend on what you are aiming for long term. To be of value to you it will need to be a different course to those you have already gained – you can’t just do some more A Levels, or resit the same ones again. Some examples of the kinds of progression opportunities we do have are below. You can contact us using our Live Chat function on the website or email Futuresteps@exe-coll.ac.uk so we can discuss the options available to you.
- Art foundation – Level 4 – For those looking to spend a year developing their artistic skills and portfolio before progressing to university.
- Courses such as HNCs and Foundation Degrees at Exeter College. Details of all our Higher Education courses can be found under the Higher Education section on our website. Applications for these courses are still open. See here for the courses we run.
- An Apprenticeship will enable you to be paid by an employer, achieve additional qualifications and gain work experience. Typically, as an Apprentice you will spend one day a week at College and the rest of your time will be working in an employer’s business. We work with hundreds of employers right across Devon and offer Apprenticeships across multiple subject areas, at all different levels – from Level 2 to degree apprenticeships. Check out our current vacancies here and come and speak to our friendly team who can explain how it all works. We are based in the Apprenticeship Hub in Queen Street – you can also book a virtual appointment with us here.

If I choose to sit exams in the autumn series and the results are worse, which result will stand?
