This Apprenticeship is aimed at experienced support workers who demonstrate best practice and act as a role model, that wish to progress by supervising or guiding less experienced staff.
Topics include:
- Safeguarding and protection
- Cleaning, decontamination and waste management
- Maintain infection prevention and control
- Promote health, safety and wellbeing in care settings
- Effective communication in care settings
- Duty of care in care settings
- Promote equality and inclusion in care settings
- Person-centred practice, choice and independence
- Understand mental ill health
- Understand physiological measurements
Apprentices will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their end point assessment:
- Help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people
- Carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks
- Provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols
- Duties are delegated to you in line with care plans.
- Not all duties are routine and you will need to use your knowledge, experience and understanding to take decisions within your area of responsibility.
Next steps: On completion you could progress on to the Level 5 Assistant Practitioner or into a career within the healthcare sector.
- Entry Requirements

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide, you ideally need GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths and in some cases ICT. However, we will work with you and provide additional support to help you achieve their requirements, either prior to your Apprenticeship or during the delivery of your programme.

Apprentices have access to all facilities across College. Our Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) give you access to a huge range of online books and resources to help you with your studies.
