Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship
Work as a member of frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. You will also provide leadership, guidance and direction for others who may be less experienced.

Those who want to progress their career in the Health and Social Care sector. The Lead Adult Care Worker will be working at a senior level providing high quality, compassionate care and support to enable adults to achieve their personal goals and to live as independently and as safely as possible whilst acting as a role model for more junior staff.
Topics include:
- Safeguarding and protection in adult care settings/services
- Understanding mental capacity and restrictive practice
- Understanding duty of care
- Promoting choice and independence in adult care settings/services
- Supporting individuals with their health and wellbeing
- Understanding personal wellbeing
- Understanding mental capacity and restrictive practice
You will:
- Understand the importance of communication between patients and team members
- Support and enable individuals to achieve their personal aims and goals
- Learn how to lead and support others
- Understand what ‘duty of care’ means
- Identify, respond to and escalate changes to physical, social and emotional needs of individuals
- Recognise potential signs of different forms of abuse
- Learn about health and safety practices
- Break down communication barriers
Apprentices will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their end point assessment:
- Help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible
- Provide supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others
- Work autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability.
Choose this Apprenticeship if you are caring, empathetic and enjoy making a difference to other people’s lives and want to develop skills in the care sector.
Next steps:On completion, you could progress directly into the workplace as a Lead Adult Care Worker in line with the National Minimum Care Standards. Or alternatively you go on to study the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care.
- Entry Requirements

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide, you ideally need GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths and in some cases ICT.
If you are 19 or over, functional skills are not required unless requested by the apprentice’s employer.
However, we will work with you and provide additional support to help you achieve their requirements, either prior to your Apprenticeship or during the delivery of your programme.
- Facilities

The Hele Building was renovation in 2021 to support some of the new T Levels. Complete bright, large classrooms, state-of-the-art IT suites and interactive seminar spaces. Learners have access to cutting edge equipment to help gear them to move directly into industry or further study.
All students have access to the College Learning Resource Centres (LRCs), the College restaurant @34 and the College Gym.
