Overview

This Apprenticeship is aimed at someone with an existing Level 3 in construction or experience in construction. It is suited towards someone interested in supporting multi-disciplinary teams to design and construct the built environment, ensuring projects meet the needs of clients and users, whilst delivering to the required levels of quality, safety, security, efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Apprentices will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their End Point Assessment (EPA):

  • Collate, interpret and analyse design and technical information
  • Select and apply appropriate materials, technologies and processes, to plan, analyse and undertake design and construction activities
  • Contribute to design projects and deliver appropriate and effective schematic and technical design solutions
  • Propose design solutions to technical problems, by preparing and presenting design documentation to industry standards
  • Demonstrate compliance with health, safety and welfare requirements
  • Carry out and report on inspection activities related to compliance
  • Review design and engineering methods, identifying potential improvements to processes, materials, resources or planning. For example, improvements in quality, cost, efficiency and environmental impact
  • Continually research and evaluate sector changes and innovations to inform personal professional development activity to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Work collaboratively with, and facilitate communication between clients, design and construction teams, statutory bodies, end-users and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to the measurement, costing, recording, analysis and reporting of progress on a construction project

 Next steps: At the end of this Apprenticeship you could progress into full time employment in Construction as a Design/Build Co-ordinator, Build Technician, Design Manager and more.

Entry Requirements

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide, you ideally need GCSE grade 4 in English Language and Maths and in some cases ICT. However, we will work with you and provide additional support to help you achieve their requirements, either prior to your Apprenticeship or during the delivery of your programme.
