Professional Accountant (AAT) Apprenticeship

Overview

This Apprenticeship is aimed at those who are Accounts Assistants and aiming to progress in their role. Applicants will have a Merit grade at AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. Examples of roles suitable for this course include, but are not limited to, Assistant auditor, Assistant management accountant, Assistant financial accountant, Accounts payable and expenses supervisor, Commercial analyst, Payroll manager, Senior bookkeeper and Senior financial officer.

Learners will be in the workplace 4 days a week and in College 1 day. Learners also have to compete a portfolio of work-based evidence and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to show competence in the standards to gain their Apprenticeship certificate.

  • Applied Management Accounting
  • Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements
  • Internal Accounting Systems and Controls

Optional units will include:

  • Cash and Financial Management and Credit and Debt management OR Personal Tax and Business Tax.

You will benefit from links with companies across Devon and gain invaluable skills within industry.

Apprentices will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their end point assessment:

  • Create and/or verify and review accurate and timely financial information for the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation
  • Meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards using standard accounting and tax practices
  • Understand/use a range of financial systems and processes
  • Have good technical accounting knowledge
  • Demonstrate leadership and team work skills
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats

Next steps: This course will launch you directly into the workplace and provides an excellent way to build your career and progress to further training or full time work. You could continue to study at a higher level to achieve chartered status.

Entry Requirements

We require AAT Level 3 qualification is at Merit grade. Every employer is different and therefore their entry requirements can vary, as a guide you ideally need GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths.

Facilities

You will study at our Future Skills Centre, which opened in 2021 near Exeter Airport. The centre has free on site parking as well as an on site cafe and a designated study room for adult learners.

Our Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) give you access to a huge range of online books and resources to help you with your studies.
