What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

A Human Resources Support Apprentice will handle day-to-day queries and provide HR advice. You will work in a medium to large organisation as part of the HR function, delivering front line support to managers and employees.

What topics will I study?

Topics will include: 

  • Understanding the structure of the organisation, the product/ services it delivers, the external market and where your role fits into the business
  • Understand the role and focus of HR within your organisation
  • Coordinating recruitment applications, including evaluation of applications and associated administration
  • Develop excellent customer service skills on a range of HR enquires
  • Use sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions
  • Support colleagues and build strong working relationships within a team
  • Maintain required HR records as part of services delivered
  • Adapt positively to changing work priorities and patterns when new tasks need to be considered or requirements change
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR performance and service

What experiences will I get?

You will benefit from links with companies across Devon and gain invaluable skills within industry. 

What are the entry requirements?

Maths and English GCSE, grade C/4 (or equivalent). If you do not have these qualifications our team will support you to gain these skills alongside your Apprenticeship.

What facilities are there?

  • The College has invested in new state-of-the-art teaching space for business and professional learning in the heart of Exeter city centre, including digital learning facilities and dedicated study space.
  • The teaching team has a plethora of experience from the world of business, with experts in a number of fields, including FTSE 100 companies and international brands

What can the course lead on to?

Some apprentices go straight into the industry as a HR Support Worker OR progress onto a Level 5 HR Consultant Apprenticeship

What support can I get?

You will have a dedicated Skills Officer who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace every 10 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

What will this training cost me?

This can vary depending on the age of the Apprentice and the size of an organisation. There will be no cost to the Apprentice.
