Overview

This course has several starting dates throughout the year, please apply at an early stage.

This qualification is designed for employed practitioners who have a previous Level 2 or experience in the role, working in settings delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. You will be planning activities, promoting the needs of individuals and key working. You will have a dedicated assessor who will work with you in your workplace on a 1:1 basis to gather the evidence required for the practical and underpinning knowledge requirements. The course lasts for up to 2 years and we use an online portfolio system which is accessible to you 24/7.

What topics will I study?

This qualification has been designed to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to be an Early Years Educator. Units include Theorists, Child Development, Safeguarding, Equality and inclusion, Creative Learning and Observations and Assessment. This course requires detailed research and written work to underpin the assignments carried out, you will need to be aware that you will require sufficient time to do this independently.

Next steps:

Once you have completed this course you may be eligible to progress onto the Level 4 Early Years Advanced Practitioner course or a Foundation Degree in Early Years.

Entry Requirements

The Early Years Educator qualification requires GCSE English at grade C or above (or equivalent e.g. Functional Skills Level 2). You must have suitable employment in a real work environment for a minimum of approx. 16 hours, and hold a current DBS. You may enrol at any time of the year. You will also require an employer permissions form to be completed.
