The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations – Site Carpentry qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification. This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a Site Carpenter within the construction industry.

You will attend college one day a week for two years during which time you will undergo practical assessments and on-line exams. Whilst also working on site you will have to complete a series of work based assessments and gather evidence for your portfolio to meet the criteria of the NVQ.

This course is suitable for anyone who is ineligible for Apprenticeship funding and who wishes to obtain a trade qualification. You will need to be working in the industry in a role that meets the criteria of the NVQ, however you can be working part time or be self-employed.

Next steps: 

As a qualified site carpenter or bench joiner you will be eligible for a blue skilled worker CSCS card which will allow you to work on site. You may also be able to progress the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations.

Entry Requirements

GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or can demonstrate a suitable level of competence in these subjects).
