A unique programme, enabling you to gain 4 full GCSEs in a year. You will study two mandatory subjects and be able to choose two more.
You will be taught through lectures, group work, teamwork plus individual study. Fast Track is a highly supportive course, but one which also requires independent learning. Assessment takes a number of different formats for example: assignments, projects, presentations, practical work plus final exams in May and June. You are expected to work independently in your free time to complete regular homework which will enable you to be successful. You will have your own personal tutor and you will be part of a tutor group
What topics will I study?
An individual timetable is compiled around mandatory subjects of GCSE Maths and English plus either GCSE Sociology or GCSE Biology.
You will also have the opportunity to choose one additional option which may include the following:
- GCSE Citizenship
- GCSE Classical Civilisation
- GCSE Religious Studies
You will:
- Have an individual timetable
- Have a personal tutor and attend weekly Personal Development sessions
- Receive preparation for progression on to Level 3 programmes for example, essay writing, analysis and research skills
- Participate in work experience linked to your preferred career choice
What can I study alongside this course?
This course is studied on its own and cannot be combined with other courses.
Future steps:
Most students progress to A Levels. Some students have progressed on to Level 3 Vocational Programmes or Apprenticeships and some have gone on to full time employment. As part of your personal development programme and work experience, attention is given to employability skills and progression skills. You will be supported with transition.
- Entry Requirements

Entry requirements: Entry is by personal interview with a member of the GCSE Fast Track team. You need to have been working towards GCSE level qualifications and be working at a grade 4 or above. There will be pre-course assessments to check your current level.
- Facilities

The Foundation Learning and Support Faculty has its own IT suite which learners can access plus the Learning Resource Centre and other College facilities.
- Additional Costs
-
There is an on entry resource fee of £35.00 to secure the relevant texts and equipment needed for maths and English and additional activities. Students are also expected to pay for their own printing and provide their own stationery.
