Overview

The ESOL Skills for Life Course is offered at 5 qualification levels plus a beginner’s class. Learners study twice a week with morning, afternoon and evening classes available. There is an exam at the end of each term and a chance to gain a national qualification.

Please note: All learners take an assessment to decide which is the right level for them to join. Learners need to be able to complete the course and take the exam at the end, so the course is not suitable for someone who is here for a short time.

Springboard to employability and progression course:

This course is for young adults, aged 19-24, which enables them to progress to an apprenticeship or to GCSE English & Maths or Level 2 ESOL. Learners follow an intensive English language programme and attain ESOL qualifications at their appropriate level.  Learners have the opportunity to study additional qualifications such as Maths and Essential Digital Skills.

Course dates to be confirmed

The focus each term is on communication skills (writing, reading and speaking and listening) with a clear focus on the exam near the end of each term. Learners usually remain in the same class for one year and then progress to the next level (if they have passed all the exams).

Please contact the ESOL Start Up Tutors to find out assessment dates: adultesol@exe-coll.ac.uk or the Adult Advice Team on 01392 400170.
