This Apprenticeship is aimed at those who are new to the Building Services Engineering industry and are looking to learn the delivery of building services solutions and systems that are to be manufactured, installed, or managed and maintained, within a building. The main types of building services systems are mechanical (heating, ventilation, and cooling), electrical (power, lighting etc) and public health (water services and drainage).

This Apprenticeship is ideal if you have good analytical and problem-solving skills, an eye for detail and good design and strong IT skills.
Apprentices will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their end point assessment:
- Contribute to building services engineering solutions by preparing, producing, and presenting engineering diagrams and documents, to engineering specifications, industry codes of practice, regulations, standards, and procedures
- Sourcing, reviewing and interpreting data and technical information, carrying out calculations and analysing the outputs
- Utilise digital technologies and techniques, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other techniques, to inform and support building service engineering solutions
Ensure compliance with health, safety and welfare requirements. Comply with environmental policies and legislation, practice sustainable principles.
Next steps: Some Apprentices go into full time employment as a technician within a design consultancy, with a contractor or in a manufacturing company, or progress onto a Level 4 Building Services Engineering Technician Apprenticeship.
- Entry Requirements

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide, you ideally need GCSE grade 4 in English Language and Maths. However, we will work with you and provide additional support to help you achieve their requirements, either prior to your Apprenticeship or during the delivery of your programme.
- Facilities

You will study at our Future Skills Centre, which opened in 2021 near Exeter Airport. The centre has free on site parking as well as an on site cafe and a designated study room for adult learners.
