This practical and theoretical lead qualification gives students the knowledge and skills to begin a career in the Beauty Industry. During your weeks of study, you will learn the skills and to undertake treatments on clients such as manicure, pedicure, waxing and facials, eye treatments and make-up.

Theory and practical and classes will help you develop a portfolio of evidence for verification. There is some assignment work or online exams. Your practical skills are developed on fellow students – once a level of competence is reached clients are to be used for assessment

Teaching and learning methods

You will be assessed practically, theoretically and orally in all areas. Testimonials may be required as evidence in some cases. Complete portfolios are verified and should include log books, projects and assignments. All units are externally assessed by on-line knowledge papers or assignments.

Career options and progression

This qualification gives you the opportunity to seek employment in a cosmetic department of a large store or beauty salon or clinic. Candidates who complete the Level 2 course successfully may progress to the Level 3 programmes.

Entry Requirements

You will need to have an interest in the beauty industry and the exciting range of treatments available. You should be enthusiastic and keen to learn a variety of practical skills and knowledge which will prepare you for a career in the beauty industry. You will need a good level of education and a real interest in the industry. A written application as well as an interview are required to gain a place on this course. This course is particularly suitable for those with experience of the workplace.

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) provides all students with access to the internet as well as specialist information.

Additional Costs

You will need a personal kit and uniform (approximate cost £475), full details will be provided at enrolment.

We also offer some professional masterclass/workshops and educational visits during the year which may incur an additional fee if you wish to participate in them.
