Overview

Barbering is the fastest and largest growing industry since 2015. With the growth of male grooming and on trend styles this is the ideal time to learn the craft and gain basic skills in this area. This course is designed for beginners to the hair/barbering industry with no prior knowledge of cutting required. The Level 2 VRQ Certificate in Barbering will cover all the fundamentals required to gain experience and knowledge in this ever-growing sector.

Teaching and learning methods

A blend of practical and theory lessons are delivered; once the fundamental barbering skills are learned on training heads, summative practical assessments are carried out on client’s which learners must provide and organise themselves throughout the course. Self study and revision for exams will be required.
A portfolio based ongoing assessment along with on-line exams for theory/assignments-based will also be completed as part of the qualification.

  • Cutting men’s hair using basic barbering techniques
  • Cutting facial hair

Career options and progression: Level 3 Barbering, working as a junior barber in a barbershop.

Entry Requirements

Although no formal qualifications are required, a good level of education in English is needed to enable full learning of the theory and to complete the online exams needed to complete this qualification. Students must supply their own models.

Facilities

Our well-equipped hair and barbering salons offer a fantastic learning environment. The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) provides all students with access to the internet as well as specialist information.

Barbering Kit and uniform (approx. £350) – full details of this will be given at interview/upon enrolment.
