Performing and Production Arts (Acting)

This full time vocational course delivers training and experience that prepares actors for rehearsal and performance whilst developing employability skills. You will be given the opportunity to acquire the skills and techniques necessary to bring characters to life and communicate their stories. Working as a successful member of a company, you get to work in rehearsal and performance spaces across the city with industry professionals.

Overview

This full time vocational course delivers training and experience that prepare actors for rehearsal and performance whilst developing employability skills. You will be given the opportunity to acquire the skills and techniques necessary to bring characters to life and communicate their stories. Working as a successful member of a company you get to work in rehearsal and performance spaces across the city with industry professionals.

What topics will I study?

You will:

  • Explore a range of acting styles, practitioners, writers, directors and live performances
  • Improve acting technique for stage, camera and radio
  • Participate in vocal, movement and textual analysis workshops
  • Create a personal website and digital marketing materials
  • Develop interpersonal and other transferable skills to enhance your employability

This course does not involve formal exams. All assessment is carried out as coursework, both practical and written. There is a continuous assignment assessment process, involving practical and written work. Grades awarded for each assignment go towards a final grade for each unit.

What experiences will I get?

You have the opportunity of working in professional performing arts spaces within the city.

What can I study alongside this course?

This course is studied on its own and cannot be combined with other courses.

Next steps:

You could progress to university or drama school.

Entry Requirements

You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, or equivalent (including English Language and Maths). If you don’t have a grade 4 in English Language or Maths, you will be required to study for this alongside your course. You will be invited to audition for a place upon the course. 

Facilities

There is a drama theatre and a small workshop studio in the CCI and you will have access to a learning resource centre.

Additional Costs

You will need to have workshop clothing (black t-shirt and leggings/ tracksuit bottoms), for practical work. We charge an annual, non refundable £100 course administration fee. This will cover all compulsory theatre visits, workshops and venue hire.
