What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

An inspiring 5 week course on the art of hairdressing. This course will provide an insight into the skills and techniques used within this industry.

What topics will I study?

You will study this programme through a range of activities, discussions and practical tasks that will cover the following areas:

  • Styling / Hair up
  • Setting
  • Shampooing massage techniques
  • Introduction to consultation
  • Skin fades

What are the entry requirements?

None – anyone with an interest in hairdressing and those who have contemplated a qualification in the hairdressing but would like to try an introductory course in the first instance. 

What facilities are there?

The Laurence Building boasts exceptional, industry standard salons with professional equipment, alongside a newly designed showcase ‘Zeal Hair Salon’ with barbering facilities. 


What can the course lead on to?

The course could reinforce your interest in pursuing a career in hairdressing or Barbering and you may wish to enrol onto one of our part-time courses and undertake a qualification i.e. Level 2 in Women and Men’s Hairdressing or Level 2 Award in Barbering .

Are there any additional costs?


It is important that you apply and pay for your course at least one week before the course starts to ensure that you will have access to all the facilities and resources in your first week.
Please be aware that there are no car parking facilities at Exeter College city centre sites, but public car parks are available across the city.
