What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

A Children, Young People and Families Manager Apprentice will ensure direction, alignment and commitment within their own practice, their team(s), their organisation and across partnerships to help children, young people and families aspire to do their best and achieve sustainable change.

What topics will I study?

  • Understanding how to maintain and develop a leadership style that sets the ethos, aims and approach to work
  • The values and ethics, and the principles and practices of diversity, equality, rights and inclusion
  • Current theories and up-to-date research to understand the practices that underpin practice decision making
  • The importance of using evidence based practice and models
  • Essential safeguarding regulations contained within mandatory local safeguarding training or a nationally accredited equivalent
  • How to best collaborate with partner agencies and resolves complex issues to achieve best outcomes
  • Building an ethos of learning and continuous improvement across partner organisations

You will benefit from links with companies across Devon and gain invaluable skills within industry.

What are the entry requirements?

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide you ideally need GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths. However, we will work with you and provide additional support in order to help you achieve the functional skills element or GCSE requirements of the Apprenticeship. Support can be delivered either prior to your Apprenticeship via a traineeship or during the delivery of your programme.

This job can lead onto a leadership role in Children's Residential Care.

What support can I get?

You will have a dedicated Skills Officer who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace every 10 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

What will this training cost me?

This can vary depending on the age of the Apprentice and the size of an organisation. There will be no cost to the Apprentice.
