What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

A Care Leadership and Management Apprentice must work in partnership in health and social care or a children and young people’s setting. You will manage and lead individuals to ensure that your clients are receiving the care they need.

What topics will I study?

Topics will include:

  • Use and develop systems that promote communication
  • Promote professional development and champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Facilitate a person-centred assessment to support wellbeing of individuals
  • Facilitate support planning to ensure positive outcomes for individuals and to support wellbeing
  • Understand personalisation in care and support services
  • Understand Health and Safety in a health and social care setting, as well as safeguarding and protection
  • Professional practice in health and social care for adults or children and young people
  • Develop, maintain and use records and reports 
  • Understand professional management
  • Understand the factors affecting older people
  • Understand the process and experience of Dementia, Parkinsons, Autism and other metal health illnesses
     

What experiences will I get?

You will benefit from links with companies across Devon and gain invaluable skills within industry. 

What are the entry requirements?

Maths and English GCSE, grade C/4 (or equivalent).  If you do not have these qualifications our team will support you to gain these skills alongside your apprenticeship

What can the course lead on to?

 Some apprentices go into full time employment in the care sector within leadership role

Are there any additional costs?

What support can I get?

You will have a dedicated Skills Officer who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace every 10 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

What will this training cost me?

This can vary depending on the age of the Apprentice and the size of an organisation. There will be no cost to the Apprentice.
