This Level 3 Award in Barbering will give you the knowledge to enhance your skills and techniques to an advanced level, which could lead to an exciting career in this field.

This course is suitable for hair stylists wishing to advance on their barbering expertise and gain industry skills.

This Level 3 award comprises of 2 units from the full NVQ3 Certification in Barbering.

What topics will I study?

Cutting skills are amongst the most important you will need as a barber.

Within this course you will cover different aspects of cutting men’s hair, neckline shapes, beards, moustaches, facial shaving and massage with aftercare advice.

All clipper work in L3 is freehand so this will enhance your skills and creativity.

What are the entry requirements?

This course is suitable for anyone who has L2 hairdressing/barbering or equivalent.

What facilities are there?

The Laurence Building boasts exceptional, industry standard salons with professional equipment, alongside a newly designed showcase ‘Zeal Hair Salon’ with barbering facilities. All student our busy commercial environment and gain assessments on real clients.

What can the course lead on to?

You could progress onto the full NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Barbering running from September 2018.

Are there any additional costs?

For this course, the college will supply a block head for you to use, however you will need the following equipment: a cutting comb, scissors, thinning scissors and a cut throat razor. If you already have such items please feel free to bring them, alternatively we can recommend buying the items from “PHAB Wholesales”, contact for further information.

It is important that you apply and pay for your course at least one week before the course starts to ensure that you will have access to all the facilities and resources in your first week.
Please be aware that there are no car parking facilities at Exeter College city centre sites, but public car parks are available across the city.
