“I have found the course so interesting and enjoyable. The placement has offered us a new perspective on what we learn at College and helped us put our skills into practice. In the future I hope to go to university to study Midwifery.”

“I have really enjoyed the practical element of the Public Services course, we have been looking at the radio communications that the emergency services use which is really interesting. I also like the coursework, which suits me better than exams. After College I would like to go to university to study criminology and then hopefully work for the Police.”

“The process has gone really well – really well! Considering I was apprehensive at first.
There is a great shortage of healthcare assistants and I think all decision makers in care need to take more initiative in looking at the Apprenticeship route.
Our Apprentice Leanna has made great progress. She has grown in confidence, and it’s a pleasure having her here and an absolute joy to see her blossom. The end product is that you have a competent, confident, approachable, young care assistant. It certainly is something you should consider. ”
Marie Brown, Nurse Manager at The Dales Care Home

“The most rewarding thing about my job is helping people who are unable to help themselves. It get a sense of accomplishment and really cherish the strong bonds I have built with the individuals I care for.
I chose the Apprenticeship route because I hated the thought of being in a classroom 24/7. An Apprenticeship allowed me to be more hands on, and I felt this would better help me progress in my career.”
Leanna Shipley, The Dales Care Home, Level 2 Adult Care Apprenticeship

“The Apprenticeship scheme has been successful for our schools, as it has enabled us to upskill current staff and employ additional staff, which has benefited our children. The administration process is straightforward and Exeter College have been proactive in supporting both the Apprentices and school with any queries.”
