How We’re Supporting You on GCSE Results Day
So, you have done all the hard work and now…results! GCSE Results Day will take place on Thursday 21 August 2025. We understand that you may be feeling a mix of emotions in the lead-up to Results Day but try not to worry – we are here to support you.
Our GCSE Advice Line will open on GCSE Results Day and is available to help you, whether you have applied to study at Exeter College or not. You can call our friendly team on 01392 400 555, from 8.30am to 16.30pm on weekdays (excluding bank holidays).

In the meantime, here are our top tips to help you to feel as relaxed and positive as possible as you approach Results Day.

Before Results Day confirm with your school what arrangements will be for the day and for collection/notification of results. You may have done this before breaking up for summer but familiarise yourself with the plan. If you’re not sure, check the school’s website and/or social media channels.
Also think about who you would like to have with you when you open your results – your parent(s), friends, or perhaps on your own. Ideally, bring along someone you feel can offer advice and support should you need it.

Stay calm, even if your results aren’t what you expected. There are steps you can take right away if you are surprised by or disappointed with your results. Our College Advice Team are trained to give you guidance. We can talk to you about the subject areas you’re interested in, your long-term career goals, and your exam grades, to find different options for you.
If you think something may have gone wrong in working out your grades, speak to your school in the first instance.

Spend time over the summer doing the things you love with the people you love! Before the big day itself, be sure to get a good night’s sleep and start the day with a morning routine and self-care that you know works for you.

If you had a re-think over the summer, or your GCSE results mean you can’t do the course you were originally signed up for, don’t be afraid to explore your other options. You can research our full provision here. And remember, our College Advice Team can support you to find a course that’s right for you and your ambitions.

Whether your results turn out to be better than expected, or not as positive as you’d hoped – we are here to support you. Pick up the phone or email us. And on Results Day itself you will also be able to use the live chat function on our website.
