This introductory web design and development bootcamp is designed for adults aged 19+ who are interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills to create their own websites or explore a potential career in web design or development. Over the duration of this 12-week course, you will gain a fundamental understanding of the principles, tools, and techniques involved in designing and building websites. By the end of the course, you will have the ability to create basic websites with visually appealing layouts and interactive elements.

Module examples:

Module 1: The Web and Programming Languages:

  • Introduction to Web Servers, Domain Names, and SEO
  • HTML Fundamentals and Website Elements
  • Wireframes, CSS, and Styling
  • Introduction to JavaScript and Basic Programming Concepts

Module 2: Building a Website through WordPress.org:

  • Content Management Systems (CMS) and WordPress.org
  • Setting up your website
  • Creating Webpages, Layouts, and Plugins in WordPress.org

Module 3: Designing your Website:

  • Understanding the basics of AI and its application in web design
  • Copywriting and Image Sourcing
  • Creating compelling and engaging content for websites

Module 4: Deployment:

  • Evaluating the success of website design through testing and user feedback
  • Introduction to e-commerce and its integration into websites
  • Transferring website hosting and domain management
  • Dedicated workshop sessions to provide support and address individual needs

You will receive support from recruitment partners such as Your Digital Future, to get you started in your career.

Entry Requirements

Learners must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Unemployed and looking for a new job
  • Upskilling in current role (employer contribution would be needed)
  • Self employed

Our goal is to ensure that regardless of your previous knowledge or experience, you’ll be able to walk away from this short course with the knowledge and skills to build your own website.

Facilities

This course will be taught in the brand new state-of-the-art Institute of Technology, Digital and Data Centre with the latest hardware and digital suites.

Additional Costs

During this course, we’ll be utilising WordPress.org to create websites. We’ll provide free hosting for your website, but you’ll need to purchase your own domain name (starting at prices as low as 79p per year). After 12 weeks, we’ll assist you in transferring your website to a new host, allowing you to further develop it or use it for your own business.
