This course covers all you need to start playing – tuning, chords, melody, strumming and picking.

Learn correct technique and basic theory from the start with a wide variety of songs. No need to read music. New students with a little experience are welcome to join in Spring and Summer terms. You will need to bring your own guitar.
- Part 1 – Autumn term – 02/10/19 to 04/12/19
- Part 2 – Spring term – 15/01/20 to 18/03/20
- Part 3 – Summer term – 22/04/20 to 24/06/20
What topics will I study?
- Parts of the guitar
- Tablature (a much simpler system of music notation for the guitar)
- Starter Chords
- Strumming, rhythm and timing
- Entry Requirements
Students should have some basic beginners skills, such as “easy” chords. Individual time will be allocated to cover any gaps in knowledge.
The college library and learning centre is available for use by students.
- Additional Costs
You will need a guitar and pen and paper. The tutor will advise you on any other equipment that you will require.
