Overview

This dynamic and challenging course equips you with the skills needed to thrive in the Esports industry and related sectors. Throughout the programme, you will build on your existing strengths and develop new, transferable skills, all of which will be showcased through comprehensive assignment-based coursework. Alongside you will develop a portfolio of work which will highlight your ability to adapt to a range of industries, while also demonstrating the digital capabilities that are especially valuable in today’s digital world.

Who is this course for?

Choose this course if you are a self-motivated dedicated learner. You wish to extend and apply skills in audio production, video production, social media marketing, event management, coaching, game analysis and entrepreneurism. You are interested in the media, Esport and games industry.

What you will study

On this course you will:

  • Work as a member of a mixed skill set group managing and producing content
  • Develop and run events to promote the Esport industry
  • Stream, shoutcast, edit, promote and publish content
  • Have day-to-day lessons that cover a variety of modules which are relevant to producing and managing Esports teams and events. We draw from a wide range of sectors, including business, sport, creative media, and IT.
  • The course is designed for learners who want to develop a range of skills such as gameplay performance analysis and improvement, business skills for launching Esports teams and organisations, managing health and fitness for players, Esports events management, streaming, brand design, video editing, games design, shoutcasting, coaching, psychology and nutrition. By the end of the course, you’ll have all the skills you need to succeed in this exciting and rapidly growing industry! There are no exams.
Assessment

You will be assessed entirely through coursework.

Entry requirements

You will need five GCSE (or equivalent) subjects at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths.

Internal applicants will need a strong reference from their former tutor and excellent attendance.  

Progression and careers

The Esport and games industry is larger than the UK TV and film industry combined and offers new opportunities in a wide range of production and management roles that this course will help prepare you for. Alternatively, the range of skills developed is suitable for many degrees, including the rapidly expanding Esport and Games degrees, as well as event management, video production, social media management and marketing. You can also progress on to the Higher Technical Education programme at the College.
