The CIPD Associate Diploma develops knowledge and understanding of different HR models and people management practices, and the external factors that impact on organisations. It is suited to individuals who seek to develop a career in HR management and development, are working in the field of HR and need to extend their knowledge and skills.

With an Associate Diploma in People Management, you’ll no longer simply support change in your organisation – you’ll help drive it. This qualification is perfect for you if you enjoy developing and managing people. You’ll expand your knowledge of HR with a combination of core units and specialist areas – helping you focus on what matters most to you.

You’ll hone your people management knowledge, as well as choosing from optional units that you can tailor to your specific interests. You’ll focus on real-life scenarios, acquiring the core behaviours derived from the CIPD’s new Profession Map, which is based on the cumulative insights of thousands of experts.

Teaching, learning and assessment methods.

Teaching takes place in a modern and professional setting at The Future Skills Centre. Lessons are workshop based where you will learn and apply theory to practice. Working collaboratively with fellow learners and lecturers alike you will discuss experiences and practical approaches to support your development and application. Alongside lessons you will have access to a wealth of reading and additional learning resources to supplement your learning.

You will be assessed throughout the course in the form of 7 assignments with varying briefs to develop your assignment writing skills in a variety of formats.

Modules

Studying for this qualification you will develop your ability to evaluate and apply the different HR models, theories and practices. Increasing your understanding of the external factors that impact upon HR activities and organisations. The Modules are designed to develop your planning, analytical and problem solving skills.

3 Core units:

3 Specialist units:

  • Employment relationship management
  • Talent management and workforce planning
  • Reward for performance and contribution

1 Additional Specialist unit:

  • Specialist employment law
Entry Requirements

You will need five GCSEs at Grade C and above although other relevant or prior work experience may also be considered as an alternative.

Ideally Level 3 CIPD qualification/Apprenticeship and/or at least 3 years relevant Human Resource experience.

Learners will need to have access to a PC with internet connection to access online resources and complete assignments.

 

Facilities

Professional classrooms with access to IT equipment and variety of books, journals and online resources through the College Learning Resource Centre (LRC). Access to computers at the multiple LRC locations.
