An Associate Project Manager knows what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved, how long it will take and how much it will cost, and works with the project team to achieve the required outcomes.

Overview

This Apprenticeship is for those wishing to achieve a broad level of project management knowledge sufficient to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. Candidates should choose a career in Project Management if they have an interest in: Business, Economics, Critical thinking, Organising and planning. Associate project managers need good planning, organisation, leadership, management and communication skills.

Example job roles include: Project Manager/Account Executive/Account Manager/Lead Business Administrator/Team Leader/Events Manager.

You will achieve:

  • Level 4 Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship
  • End Point Assessment (EPA)
  • If required: Functional Skills (English, Maths)
  • Apprentices are eligible to apply for associate membership with APM upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship

Apprentices will need to be working towards and achieve the following job role requirements before their end point assessment:

  • Planning and Defining Scope of projects
  • Activity Planning and Sequencing
  • Resource Planning
  • Developing Schedules
  • Time and Cost Estimating
  • Developing a Budget
  • Carry out Risk Analysis
  • Controlling Quality

Next steps: Some Apprentices progress onto a Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship with the support of their employer.

Entry Requirements

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide, you ideally need GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths and
in some cases ICT. However, we will work with you and provide additional support to help you achieve their requirements, either prior to your Apprenticeship or during the delivery of your programme.

Facilities

You will study at our Future Skills Centre, which opened in 2021 near Exeter Airport. The centre has free on site parking as well as an on site cafe and a designated study room for adult learners.
