What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

The IMI Accreditation Light Vehicle Inspection route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the inspection, maintenance and repair of light vehicles.

Inspection Technician must be able to work unsupervised - ideally, they should be in full time employment with at least 3 years’ experience to ensure they are familiar with the techniques for vehicle servicing, inspection and system(s) diagnosis.

This course comprises of 7 assessments in a round robin format of 45 minutes each which test the competency in carrying out service activities. There is one online external assessment to demonstrate knowledge.

18/01/2019 to 18/01/2019 - Friday, 08:30-17:00
15/03/2019 to 15/03/2019 - Friday, 08:30 -17:00

What topics will I study?

There is no teaching included in this course as it is a test of pre-existing competency and knowledge.

What are the entry requirements?

The candidates should be in employment and have at least 3 years’ experience, while there are no entry qualification requirements it is advantageous to hold a Level 2 automotive qualification but not essential.

What facilities are there?

The assessments are held in the industry ready motor vehicle workshops which boast the same technology and facilities as a professional automotive businesses.

What can the course lead on to?

This Accreditation will also allow a progression route on to the Level 2 award in MOT testing classes 4&7.
