Screenwriting – Extend Option
Please note: This course is one of our Extend Options designed to be combined with other A Level programmes or BTEC Extended Certificate courses to make up a full timetable. If you are planning to study an A Level programme at Exeter College you will need to enrol on a four element programme, and cannot apply for this course on it’s own.
Why do this course?
This course is for students who have a passion for seeing their creative ideas in the written film (script) form and wish to continue their exploration of this creativity in a supportive, stretching, and creative environment.
What will it involve?
There will be a range of lecture/writing task activities offered introducing students to a variety of scriptwriting skills and techniques and opportunity to practice in creating their own short film script. The course has a practical focus, allowing students to develop their skills and expertise as scriptwriters. You will have the opportunity to create your own short film script from the initial planning stages to final creation. The course will conclude with a chance to share outcomes in the form of a presentation to an industry linked professional.
How might it help in the future?
Students will develop a range of invaluable skills from being involved in this extend course, from confidence in public speaking, research skills and the ability to create a industry standard film script. There will also be opportunities to engage with local companies such as Exeter Phoenix to enable learners to gain professional experiences and develop networking skills. The skills gained through this course will allow students to stand out from other applicants when applying to university or for employment in the media/film world.
