If you have not yet achieved grade C/4 in Maths and English, do not worry! We have an amazing Apprentice Learning Support team who are here to support you through your required qualifications and needs alongside your Apprenticeship.
We are also proud to offer a Pre-Apprenticeship programme which works as a stepping-stone to develop the skills and experience that employers are looking for. This programme provides work experience, industry skills development, employability skills workshops and support for maths and English (if required). We will support you to move into an Apprenticeship as soon as you are ready.
A Pre-Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to:
- Gain work experience with an employer in your chosen industry
- Study towards industry qualifications
- Receive support to fine tune your job seeking skills
- Develop your skills in English or maths – if required.
Starting an Apprenticeship in 4 Easy Steps
There are 4 easy steps to follow throughout the course of the year, in order to enrol as an Exeter College apprentice in September 2022.
Complete Your Application
Apply online – it’s really easy and you will get an immediate acknowledgment email. Alternatively, you can download and print an application form or pick one up from college. We recommend you apply as soon as possible to guarantee an early interview.
Completing this application is important, as it means we can provide you with important information, and a sector expert can help you find a job (remember to tick on your application form whether you have already found an Apprenticeship employer or still need to find one). It also means we may be able to offer you a back-up option on another course in case you don’t find an Apprenticeship job or you change your mind.
Come To An Interview
Once you have completed the online application form, you will be invited to an interview evening. You will receive a text and an email with the date, time and location. This will be an informal meeting with a member of our team to provide you with an offer* and important information on your next steps.
*If you do not have an Apprenticeship Employer at this point, you will receive a conditional offer
Start Your Job Search
One of our sector specific Recruitment Advisers will be in contact in spring to see how you are getting on with your job search. You will be given the option to book a one to one session with them to discuss your Apprenticeship job search in more detail. You will need to have a job in order to become an Apprentice. If you don’t, not to worry. View the Job Search and Current Job Vacancies pages on the Apprenticeship section of our website.
Enrol And Join Us
You will be invited to our enrolment day in August. Your September course start date and location will be confirmed and we will arrange to meet with you and your employer in the workplace. You will then be an official Exeter College Apprentice, will receive ongoing support and have access to our fantastic range of student benefits.
