This course is located at Victoria Yard, next to the CCI building, off Queen Street.
This course is ideal for those with previous experience in crafting silver jewellery, particularly if you can solder independently. You’ll revisit and refine fundamental techniques like sawing, filing, soldering, and basic forming, taking them to a higher level than beginner courses.
Depending on your experience and abilities, you’ll have opportunities to learn stone setting techniques such as bezel, flush, and tube settings.
Each term will feature a specific skill focus, encouraging you to express your creativity through structured projects.
Join us to further develop your jewellery-making skills in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
What topics will I study?
New learners to the advanced course will be given a project to follow, which will be a ring set with a single stone.
The skills learnt from the first project will include, using a piercing saw, filing metal, soldering , setting of cabochon stone and polishing.
Further techniques you will be able to try will include, reticulation, granulation, sand casting, enamelling, and various ways to pattern and apply surface textures to metal.

Learners must have completed one term of the beginners course (Tuesday evening) or have had attended a silver jewellery course somewhere else.

Course cost includes enough silver for the initial project. Silver for subsequent projects is bought at an extra cost. The price will depend on the amount used. All tools required will be provided.
