This course equips you with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for further study or employment in health and social care. This course covers all ages, from birth to care for the elderly.
On this course you will:
- Increase your knowledge and understanding of the needs of different people in care
- Find out about health and social care services in your local area
- Take part in work experience
- Learn to work independently, as well as in a group
- Develop your confidence and your ability in English and Maths
- Understand and develop the skills and qualities necessary to work in this industry
Health and social care units are assessed by assignments and coursework, with exams for English and Maths.
This course is ideal if you enjoy caring for others and have a passion for working within the care industry. The course content covers people of all ages and looks at a range of different disabilities.
Future Steps: On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress to a Level 2 course, employment or an Apprenticeship.
- Entry Requirements

You will need a minimum of a grade 2 in English Language and Maths. If you don’t have a grade 4 in English and Maths, you will be required to study for this alongside your course. Plus, you will need two additional GCSEs at grade 2 or above, or equivalent.
An interest in gaining a job in the health and social care industry is essential.

You will have access to all the College facilities, including a student restaurant, full media suite, gym and fully equipped Learning Resource Centre (LRC).
- Additional Costs

Resource fee of approximately £35 is applicable.
This provides materials for craft and cooking activities, public transport costs and trips and visits.
