Careers Programme
Careers Information, Advice & Guidance
The Exeter College Careers Programme is delivered by a variety of internal and external professionally qualified and experienced practitioners. Our careers programme offers a range of activities to raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes and inform students and parents about all options following on from College.
Students will have access to the information advice and guidance that they need to make informed decisions about their next steps.
We offer all 16-19 year old students the opportunity to book a 1:1 career advice appointment with our Future Steps Team and these can be face-to-face or via Teams.
Careers appointments are available throughout the year and can be booked via their own eILP. Parents/Carers are welcome to come in for any booked appointments. Please remember to visit our College reception to sign in as a visitor.
As well as the 1:1 support the team can offer, students can access a wealth of information and resources via the student portal. Please also see the link below for some suggested careers resources for students and parents.
Career Strategy
In 2017 the Government released a Careers Strategy which aims to improve Careers education in schools and colleges. The Gatsby Benchmarks were introduced to ensure standardisation across the sector.
The eight Gatsby Benchmarks
- A stable careers programme
- Learning from career and labour market information
- Addressing the needs of each pupil
- Linking curriculum learning to careers
- Encounters with employers and employees
- Experiences of workplaces
- Encounters with further and higher education
- Personal guidance
We are proud that our advice and guidance is assessed and accredited by Matrix, the quality standard for information, advice and guidance in the UK.
