- Overview

To excel in your Science or Healthcare Access course and achieve high grades, a solid understanding of GCSE level chemistry and biology is essential. In addition to theoretical knowledge, developing practical laboratory skills is equally important to ensure success in the course.
This preparatory course is specifically designed to refresh and strengthen your knowledge of fundamental scientific principles. You will revisit key topics, including elements, compounds, and chemical reactions, which are crucial for building a strong foundation. These concepts are particularly important as they form the basis for understanding the biochemistry units in the Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma in Science or Healthcare.
Throughout the course, you will not only enhance your theoretical knowledge but also gain valuable hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. This includes developing essential lab skills such as accurate measurement, observation, and safe handling of chemicals. These practical competencies will prepare you to tackle more advanced scientific studies with confidence.
By the end of this course, you will have established the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to transition smoothly from Level 2 to Level 3 study in science. This progression is key to advancing your academic journey, whether you aim to pursue a career in healthcare, scientific research, or a related field.

What our students think?
“The tutors were great. They could have just covered the bare minimum that the syllabus required; instead they covered bits of the A Level syllabus as well if they were appropriate to the students’ planned degrees. They were always approachable if I didn’t understand a particular concept, even if that concept was beyond the scope... Read more >
