Overview

Learn how to create complicated 2-D vector drawings such as: logos, web icons, creative typographic effects, patterns and enhance hand-drawn artwork.

Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard for 2-D vector drawing software for graphic design and illustration, and a range of other creative disciplines (e.g. fashion design).

Learning this leading professional graphic design software can help build essential skills and confidence to tackle professional design challenges or study graphic design at a higher level.

You will learn how to:

  • Effectively use the Illustrator workspace
  • Draw basic vector shapes and lines
  • Organise your drawing using layers
  • Create a logo using the Pen tool
  • Create website buttons and icons
  • Generate creative effects with typography
  • Merge elements to create compound shapes
  • Convert hand-drawn illustrations to vectors with Image Trace
  • Use Live paint to colour illustrations
  • To us aligning, compound shapes and graphics styles
  • Transform effect and liquify tools

Entry Requirements

This is an in-depth professional design software so is only suitable for those with good basic computer skills.

Facilities

Learners will be given a college ID badge and have access to all college facilities, including learning centres and computers. All computers have Adobe CC on Windows 10. You can use this software outside of lesson time in the Learning Centres.

Additional Costs

It would be an advantage, but not essential, to obtain a copy of Adobe CC whilst on the course.
