Skills Bootcamp – Digital Marketing

Digital Marketers are tasked to define, design, and build digital campaigns across platforms to drive customer acquisition, retention, and engagement. They form part of the digital team in a business and take responsibility for most of the linear elements of the marketing campaign.

Overview

The course is one day per week over 12-16 weeks with a coaching and mentoring session available on the same day to support your professional development. This course is delivered at our Digital and Data Centre at our Hele Road site and online.

Induction, the first week of each module, and graduation week will be held on site at Exeter College.

The second week of each module will be taught live online using the Microsoft Teams platform, with the option to attend in person if you prefer.

During the coaching and mentoring sessions there will be progress reviews, an opportunity to further discuss the content of the programme, as well as focusing on Individual Professional Development, reflecting on skills development and individual target setting, and supporting those applying for a change of job role.

During the course you will create an online portfolio of work to showcase your development.

In the final week of the programme there will be interview preparation, final portfolio feedback, visiting speaker talks and graduation!

Module 1: Media Platforms

Target Skills

  • How digital platforms integrate into the working environment.
  • Basic marketing principles.
  • Market segmentation.
  • Similarities and differences between major social media platforms.

Module 2: Lifecycles

Target Skills

  • Latest developments in digital media technologies.
  • Delivery lifecycle of digital media products.
  • The customer lifecycle.
  • Roles and models of customer relationship marketing.

Module 3: SEO

Target Skills

  • Search Engine Optimisation and how to implement digital campaigns across a variety of platforms.
  • Fundamentals of the web and networking.
  • Structured techniques to problem solving.
  • Problems and issue resolution across a variety of digital platforms.

Module 4: Google IQ

Target Skills

  • Basic and advanced Google Analytics concepts.
  • Planning and principles, implementation and data collection.
  • Reports, metrics and dimensions.
  • Builds digital campaigns across platforms. Part 1/2.

Module 5: Campaigns

Target Skills

  • Builds digital campaigns across platforms. Part 2/2.
  • Digital etiquette.
  • Using digital tools effectively.
  • Copywriting across digital platforms.
Entry Requirements

The following entry criteria must be fulfilled:

  • You are 19 years or over
  • You live in Devon or Cornwall
  • You have the right to work in the UK
  • You have lived in the UK or EU/EAA for the last 3 years or have a residency status that makes you exempt from this rule
  • English skills including written/spoken required with Level 1 being the minimum
  • You have not completed another Skills Bootcamp in this current financial year
  • If you are unemployed and meet the above criteria, the course will be free
  • If you are fully employed, your employer will be asked to pay a contribution. If you are part time employed, funding will depend on your circumstances
  • If you are self-employed, you need to show commitment to building your business and provide evidence of a business plan that reflects the knowledge and skills this course has to offer
  • You are committed to participating in delivery sessions for 12-16 weeks

 

All applicants will be assessed at interview.

Facilities

The Digital and Data Centre is a £10.3million building which opened in July 2021. It has state-of-the-art IT suites and interactive classrooms. There is a cafe on site as well as a designated study space for adult learners.
