This course is for students who have a good appreciation for computer aided design/drafting and would like to transition into ‘Parametric Modelling’ techniques.
Level 1 is ideal if you are looking to work, or are just starting out, in the field of manufacturing or engineering design and need to gain skills in using Parametric Modelling software. It is also ideal if you have an appreciation for computer aided design/drafting and would like to transition into ‘Parametric Modelling’ techniques.
There is only one qualification available at this Level. The single unit includes how to use:
- Associated IT, CAD hardware and operating systems
- A range of commands to create and constrain sketches
- A range of commands to produce extruded and revolved features.
Completion of prior CAD qualifications is not mandatory, but the need to have a good working knowledge of CAD software and designing generally is required.

- Facilities

A £8.3 million Technology Centre at Monkerton opened in September 2012. The centre combines the training and teaching of aerospace, engineering and automotive students with access to state of the art equipment within world class facilities. The CAD/CAM Suite includes 25 computers running the latest versions of AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, EdgeCAMand SIEMENS 828d/840d control. You will also have access to a Learning Resource Centre (LRC).
