Welcome to Exeter College 2026
This page contains information for students who will be new to Exeter College or starting a new programme in September 2026.
Here at Exeter College we are looking forward to welcoming you to enrolment and to the start of your College journey with us!
To support you in your preparations we have pulled together all the information and resources you will need between now and joining us as an Exeter College student in September.
YOUR FIRST DAYS AT COLLEGE – DATES TO REMEMBER
THURSDAY 3 SEPTEMBER
Welcome Day 1
- A Level and IB arrive at 9am and finish at 3pm
- All other courses arrive at 10.15am and finish at 4.15pm
FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER
Welcome Day 2
- A Level and IB arrive at 10am and finish at 1pm
- All other courses arrive at 9am and finish at 12noon
MONDAY 7 SEPTEMBER
START OF LESSONS
- Lessons start for all full time students as per your timetable (you will get this during your Welcome Day/s).
All new students have an induction (Welcome Days) from Thursday 3 to Friday 4 September and must attend College on these days.
Some courses will be different and may only have a one-day induction. Please refer to the information on page 3 of your Getting Started booklet for your specific course induction date/s and time/s.
You will receive your Getting Started booklet at your enrolment appointment.
If you misplace or forget your Getting Started booklet there will be staff located at Helpzone locations and at receptions during the first few days of College who can help you to find the right place to go (see below for more).
Get off to a Flying Start
We know lots of you are keen to get a head start on your College subjects before joining us, and that’s why we’ve developed Flying Start; our suite of learning content designed to get you thinking about your new subjects with us.

RECEIVING YOUR TIMETABLE
You will receive your timetable during your welcome days. The structure of your timetable will depend on the type of programme you are studying. It is likely your timetable will be quite different from what you are used to at school. Below are examples of timetables from the last academic year. Please note yours may look different.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE START OF TERM?
Your first two days at College are known as Welcome Days. When you arrive, there will be lots of College staff to meet you and help you find your way around – just look for staff wearing their lanyards and some also wearing blue!
During the Welcome Days you will:
Meet your tutor and your tutor group
Hear from the College Principal to find out more about the College
Learn more about your course, your tutorial sessions and the wide range of support available to you with your studies and wellbeing
Attend the EXtra Welcome Fair to find out about all the exciting EXtra clubs and societies on offer to you (and to enjoy freebies from local companies!)
Make new friends and have fun! Your tutor will plan lots of activities to help you get to know one another, and to feel welcomed and confident as quickly as possible
Do some orientation activities to help you find your way around the buildings

If you have any questions or are not sure where to go during your first few days, you can visit one of the Helpzones which will be set up in the foyer of the following locations:

Exwick Sports Pavilion
For those taking a sports-based course, or for those involved in the Sports Academy, some of your sessions will run at the Exwick Sports Hub.
The Rugby Centre
Construction Centre
If you are studying a Construction course or Apprenticeship, you will be based at Falcon House in Sowton.
Construction Innovation Centre
If you are studying carpentry, joinery or roofing, you will be taught at the Construction Innovation Centre in Sowton.
Future Skills Centre
Some of our courses, including Aeronautical Engineering and Travel and Tourism, are based at the Future Skills Centre, near Exeter Airport.
Haven Banks
If you are studying Outdoor Adventure Sports courses, you will be based at Haven Banks on the Quayside.
Technology Centre
If you are studying an Engineering, Aerospace or Automotive course or Apprenticeship, you will be based at the Technology Centre in Monkerton.

YOUR STUDENT EXPERIENCE
When a student joins us at Exeter College, they join a community of support. There is a wide offer of enriching activities and support available to students.
Every student has a named Personal tutor who is their first point of contact for support. Students will receive regular group tutorials covering topics about being an active citizen in the community, health and wellbeing and progressing on to their next steps.
There are many extra-curricular opportunities available that will help you to enhance your interests and talents, make new friends, support your sense of wellness, develop new skills, and have fun along the way.
The EXtra team will be on hand to get you involved in a wide range of awareness days and pop-up events throughout the academic year.
