Before and On Results Day

Is there anything I should do before results day?

Ensure you can access your My eILP page by logging on to the system through the Student Hub before results day. If you can’t access the system, you might need to reset your password.  

Update your contact details on your My eILP, including your phone number, as we may need to contact you directly on results day.

Whatever the outcome – whether better than expected, or not as positive as you’d hoped – we are here to support you. Pick up the phone, email us, or visit our website to use our live chat on Results Day.

How do I access my results?

Results will be available through your ‘My eILP’ on the relevant results day at 8am. Please remember that you may have more than one results day if you are retaking GCSEs alongside your Level 3 course.

Thursday 13 August 2026 is the results day for A Level, BTEC, T Level and all Level 3 courses.

Thursday 20 August 2026 is the results day for GCSEs, Level 2 and Level 1 courses.

To access your results, you will need to log-in to your ‘My eILP’. via the student hub. If you are having trouble logging in you might need to reset your password.

Where do I click into to see my results – and what information will I see on my results page?

Log in to your ‘My eILP’ page on your results day (check the dates and times).

Click on the link from your homepage of your ‘My eILP’ and you’ll be taken to a page with your results. You will see the following:

Result: this will be the overall grade you have been awarded for this qualification

Level: this refers to the level of qualification you have been awarded, for example GCSEs are level 2, and vocational qualifications can be level 1 or 2.

I have tried resetting my password and still can’t log into My eILP, what do I do?

You can unlock your account and reset your password by following the instructions on this page.

What support will be available from college if I need it on results day?

If you need advice or support, we’re here for you. There will be a range of support available on results days and beyond.

• On-site and in-person (13 & 14 August)

Our Careers, Higher Education and Apprenticeships teams will be available at Hele Road (in the Hele LRC) to help with next steps, university places, and any changes to your plans.

• Live chat and advice line (13 August)

If you can’t join us in person, you can access general support and signposting through the live chat function on our college website or you can phone our advice line on 01392 400555.

• Tutor phone call – year one and returning learners

Just a reminder, if you are a year one or a retuning learner, your tutor will be in touch on the afternoon of Thursday 20 August to discuss your results. During that call they will invite you in for a meeting on the morning of Friday 21 August if any changes to your progression plans are needed. Please keep your phone nearby ready to take their call.

I’m a parent and my young person is away. Can I access their results for them?

For legal reasons we are not allowed to release results to anyone except the person who sat the exam/s. Your young person will need to log-in to their ‘My eILP’ to access their results.

When will I receive my qualification certificates?

Certificates will be issued by the awarding organisations in November. We will let you know closer to the time when and how you will be able to access or collect your certificates.

Understanding Your Results

What does my BTEC / T Level grade mean?

Level 3 qualifications

Single grade qualifications (e.g., National Certificates and National Foundation Diplomas)	If a qualification has multiple grades (e.g., a National Diploma/National Extended Diploma) then each grade is as follows:	BTEC Level 3 Nationals (teaching from 2014) BTEC (QCF) qualifications
Distinction Star – D*	Distinction Star – D*
Distinction – DS	Distinction – D	Distinction (D)
Merit – ME	Merit – M	Merit (M)
Pass – PA	Pass – P	Pass (P)
	For example a triple grade of D*DD would be Distinction Star, Distinction, Distinction.	Near Pass (N)

Please note that some qualifications might be pass or fail.

T Levels

Year 1	One grade for the core exams – A* to U One grade for the Employer Set Project – A* to U   Plus, an overall grade for the Core component (a combination of the above) – A* to U
Year 2	One grade for the Occupational Specialism – Pass (P), Merit (M) or Distinction (D)   An overall grade for the T Level if all requirements (including completion of an industry placement) have been achieved – Pass (P), Merit (M), Distinction (D) or Distinction* (D*)

How does my T Level result relate to UCAS points?

I’m looking for my points score for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Geology and I can’t see it. How can I access this?

Unfortunately, the points score for these subjects is not available on your online results slip. If you need this information for clearing purposes, please call us on 01392 400555.

What’s my exam board?

What are the grade boundaries?

Grade boundaries are not available until results day.

We will provide the grade boundaries as soon as we can on the day.

Can I get my external unit results?

External units taken in 2026 will appear on your online results slip. If you need further unit information for Clearing, please call 01392 400555.

How can I request my exam script or a review of the marking of my paper?

If you wish to request your exam scripts or a review of the marking, please access this webpage where you will find details of all services including, deadlines and fees. Please be aware that you must pay the fees through Wisepay at the time of submitting your request. Alternatively, you can email examsteam@exe-coll.ac.uk for further information and advice.

Second Year Students

I am a second-year learner and know from a UCAS email that I have not secured my first choice or insurance offer – I want to talk to someone about my results.

You can come into college from 8.00am to speak to one of the team or you can call the advice line on 01392 400555 which will be open from 8.00am.
The advice line will be prioritised for those needing clearing support. For any general exam queries, please contact us via the online chat on the college website.

I have marginally missed out on the overall grade I needed to meet my university offer and they have asked for more detail on the breakdown of my results – where can I get this?

Contact us on the chat function or advice line and we will arrange for our exams team to provide you with the information you need.

I’m a second-year student who did better than I expected and might be able to get into a better university than I have an offer from. What should I do?

You can decline your firm choice offer place if you would prefer to go through the Clearing process.

I’m a second-year student who has not met the required grades for my university choice. What do I do?

Please check the status of your UCAS application via Track. Many students find alternative courses through the UCAS clearing system which matches you with suitable courses that still have vacancies. Find out about Clearing 2026.

I didn’t apply to university, but now I have my results I would like to go this year. How does clearing work?

You can apply to go to university through the clearing process.

I’m a vocational learner and university are asking for points for a unit I sat in January – how can I access these?

Unfortunately, the points score for these units are not available on your online results slip. If you need this information for clearing purposes, please call us on 01392 400555.

I’m a second-year student who would like to stay on at Exeter College to gain other qualifications. Are there any options for me?

If you are 18 and have completed study at level 3, we may have an option that would fit in with your progression ambitions. It will depend on what you are aiming for long term.

To be of value to you any further study would need to be for a different qualification from those you have already achieved; you can’t re-peat the same course again.

First Year Students

I am a first-year student and I’m not sure I have what I need to progress to my next steps in college. I would like to talk to my tutor about what to do next; when can I speak to them?

For year one and returning students, your first-year tutor will be in touch on Thursday 20th August to discuss your results. During that call they will invite you in for a meeting on the morning of Friday 21 August if any changes to your progression plans are needed.

I’m an AS student who has received one E or U grade – what are my options?

We are here to support you. You have several options at the College:

You can look at other AS levels you could sit alongside your two other A Level subjects. This can be a good option if you have achieved well in the two you are carrying on and there is an AS Level that would complement them well and support your progression.

You can look at alternative routes to your chosen progression. For example, our level 3 courses like T Levels, UAL and BTECs offer excellent progression to university. This can be a good option if you have found that A Level style final exam assessments do not always help you show your best performance – some learners do their best work in assignment work and so will get better UCAS points from an alternative level 3 course than A Levels.

You might have decided that you are ready for a different type of learning and want to begin your journey into work. Apprenticeships at the College run in a very wide range of skills and professions – and can run right the way up to degree level.

I’m an AS student who has received E or U in two or more subjects, or I’m a first-year vocational/technical student who has received a fail/U grade. What can I do?

Firstly, do not panic, we’re here to support you. We have other options for you at College:

I am at the end of my first year in a BTEC – Why can I not see an overall BTEC result on my results page?

Some BTEC courses are two-year programmes so you will not receive an overall grade until the end of next year. When you return to college your tutor and teachers will share your unit grades with you.

What does it mean if I have internal AS results on my results page?

A small number of our A Level subjects (listed below) do not have an external AS exam so you will have sat an internal exam/assessment in June instead. Your result is internal because it is not an awarding body qualification.

I’ve completed my first year successfully but would like to change one or more of my A Level subjects. What can I do?

Changes mid-way through a two-year course would be exceptional and only considered to enable a change in career progression. Your tutor will be in touch on Thursday 20th August to discuss results and options.
