We currently have nearly 30 university level courses ranging from HNCs, HNDs and Foundation Degrees. Courses include Business, Health and Social Care, Sport and Journalism and Practical Media.

Foundation Degrees (FdA/FdSc/FdEng)

A foundation degree is a stand-alone recognised degree in its own right equivalent to the first two years of an honors degree.

You may wish to 'top-up' your Foundation Degree to a full Honours Degree by studying for one more year at one of our partner universities, or another higher education institution. These programmes can be completed over 2 years full time or 3 years part time.

Foundation degrees are degree qualifications with an emphasis on a vocational area designed to prepare you for a career in that industry. Our courses give you the opportunity to work with local employers and get an insight to working in the industry as well as building links with potential employers.

Because Foundation Degrees are designed in partnership with employers, the practical knowledge and skills that you learn during the course will be valuable in your career. This in turn makes you much more employable once you’ve graduated. Your future employers will know that you’re not only academically qualified, but that you’ve also got the practical experience and workplace skills they really want to see.

Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND)

HNCs can take one year to complete full time and two years part time. HNDs take two years full time and can also be taken part time.

HNC's and HND's are work-related qualifications that are highly valued by employers in the UK and overseas and can also count towards membership of professional bodies. These qualifications are a mix of academic and hands-on practical and vocational learning that will develop the skills you need in the workplace.

You will have the opportunity to progress from the HNC to the HND. Once the HND is achieved you will have the option to progress to the third year of a degree at university. Click here to view our HND and HNC courses.

Bachelor of Science Honours Degree (BSc)

We offer an opportunity to top up to a BSc (Honours) top-up, which can be studied over one year (full-time), or two years (part-time). For students who successfully obtain their related Foundation Degree at the appropriate level it is possible to obtain your Foundation Degree through to Honours without needing to study elsewhere.

The BSc will enable you to expand on your knowledge and skills you have gained through your foundation degree with a greater emphasis on research skills, critical thinking and vocational practice. You will complete a minimum of 100 hours’ work experience and will enhance the skills and qualities you will need for employment at graduate level.
