This course equips you with the basic skills and knowledge required for further study such as T level health or BTEC applied science or employment/apprenticeships in sectors such as health science or science.

Choose this course if your GCSEs in science are not what you hoped or do not yet allow you to study at Level 3 and you want to pursue a career in science or health science this course is for you.

On this course you will:
- Increase your knowledge and understanding in Chemistry, Biology and Physics
- Take part in work experience
- Develop your confidence and your ability in practical science skills
- Study the national outcomes for Health Science Care
- Develop sector specific employability skills by planning and delivering an employer set project (ESP)
- Complete two GCSEs either Maths, English Language or Biology
- Assessment

You will produce a portfolio of evidence and complete internal examinations, as well as external exams in GCSE subjects.

You will need either Maths or English Language at Grade 4 plus three GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language or Maths and science plus two GCSEs at Grade 2
Progression and careers
On successful completion of this course, you may be able to progress to a Level 3 course including T level Health and Level 3 Applied Science, employment or an apprenticeship.

This programme allows you to study EITHER GCSE maths or English alongside GCSE Biology, if you have not achieved a GCSE science at Grade 4. This supports progression onto Leve l3 courses such as Applied science, Health and Social care and T level health once the Grade 4 in the GCSE’s have been achieved.
- Does this programme involve exams/assignments or both?

This programme has both, the GCSE’s are exams, the rest of the programme involves completion of assignments and building a portfolio of evidence
- Can I study GCSE's in Physics and Chemistry as part of this programme?

No, the programme includes GCSE Biology. The programme has bespoke sessions in Chemistry and Physics which develops both the knowledge and practical and data skills required to be successful at Level 3 in a science based courses such as Applied science
- Does this programme include work experience?

Yes this programme does support all students gaining 60 hours of work experience. This can be a mixture of online, virtual or in person work experience.
- Do I need to buy anything to study this course?

Nothing specific for the course, we supply lab coats and safety specs.
Having a calculator you are familiar with and can use such as the one you used in GCSE maths/science at school is useful.
