The Introduction to Counselling course is Quality Checked by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
*This course alone is not a route to the Accredited Register, nor does it fully equip a graduate to practice as a qualified counsellor.

This is an informative lead-in for those considering training to become a practicing counsellor as well as a beneficial stand-alone course in effective listening and enhanced self-awareness.

Offering an initial exploration of counselling and its use, it is suitable for anyone looking to enhance their interpersonal skills.

During the day, students will be given the opportunity to develop their self-awareness, their ability to listen actively and to promote healthy and effective communication.

It is an unassessed course, with no prior learning or counselling experience required.

The day includes a balanced agenda of taught material, group discussion and feedback, and experiential exercises.

Please note: this course will take place at our Hele Road site.

This course is useful for anyone who is interested in gaining an insight into further counselling training and is a valuable route to the Certificate in Core Counselling Skills at Exeter College.

Learned skills are transposable to both personal and professional settings for those who are attending just for the day.

Teaching and learning methods: The course is delivered by a qualified counselling practitioner and involves taught elements, group activities and reflection tasks.

These courses are all 1-day (Saturday) in the IoT, 10am to 5pm on the following dates:
