Interested in solving mathematical problems? Need to improve your basic skills or keen to go right to the top?

... then study maths as part of your programme of study. You will receive excellent teaching and learning and have access to our learning centres. You will be based in the new Maths and Science Centre which is midway between the main Hele Road Centre and the other Queen Street sites.

Potential progression options for courses in this subject area include:

  • Further studies at a higher level at university - mathematics is an essential qualification for maths, physics and engineering degrees and strongly supports many other subjects such as computing, chemistry and economics as well as working alongside subjects such as business studies, geography, biology, environmental science and psychology
Did you know?

In 2014, over 68% of the 136 A Level Maths students gained impressive high grades A* A or B grades and 24% gained the highest A* grade.

Exeter College hosted the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Careers Fair, giving students the opportunity to find out about careers in these subjects.

What our students are saying

I have enjoyed applying what I learnt at GCSE level to more advanced topics and their real life applications. I plan to continue my subjects at A Level so that I can study physics and astronomy at university.

Joseph, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics AS Levels

I think these subjects are very interesting and will lead me to a career where I can explain how things work. Exeter College is a good bridge between school and university because you are given responsibility and are respected by staff. There is a good mix of practical work and theory and the work is challenging. I hope to study engineering at university.

Ewan, A levels in Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry

My main achievements at college have been achieving a bronze in the Maths Challenge, taking part in the Reach Academy and securing a place at Thompson Reuters for summer work experience through college. I plan to go on to do a mathematics degree because I would like a career in this area.
