Learn essential Spanish for everyday situations in Spanish-speaking countries on our three-part beginner evening course. Gain the skills to ask for and give basic information and have short conversations in various settings. We will develop vocabulary weekly in class to apply in writing, reading, listening and speaking exercises. This popular course is fun and friendly and will set you well on the way to learning this beautiful language.
This course is a one-year course divided into three terms, running on Tuesdays from 18.30 – 20.30.
What topics will I study?
Part 1 – Autumn Term (Complete beginners)
- Spanish Alphabet
- Greetings and farewells
- Numbers, nationalities, professions
- Basics of gender and number in Spanish
- Introduction to Spanish verbs in the present tense
- Verb “to be” (SER and ESTAR)
Part 2 – Spring Term (For those who completed Part 1)
- Family
- Physical characteristics
- Emotions and feelings
- Date and time
- Verb “to have” (TENER)
- Around the city: Shops
- Time expressions in the present
- Basic dialogues
Part 3 – Summer Term (For those who completed Parts 1 and 2)
- Directions
- Verb “to like” (GUSTAR) and similar verbs
- Reflexive verbs
- Prepositions of place
- Food
- Weather
- Possessive pronouns
- Basic dialogues and easy comprehension texts

- Part 1 – Autumn Term: No prior knowledge is required – this course is perfect for complete beginners.
