The course is one day per week over 12 weeks with a coaching and mentoring session to support your professional development. This course is delivered at our Future Skills Centre.
The comprehensive programme will ensure that you emerge from this course armed with the knowledge and skills needed carry out effective coaching and mentoring with confidence.
The fundamentals of coaching and mentoring will be covered through taught lessons, practical tasks, case study analysis and expert guest speaker input. It offers organisations the opportunity to upskill their staff with future-critical knowledge.
The course includes the achievement of Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 3 Award in Management Coaching and Mentoring. Recognised globally for its quality and relevance, the certification brings immense value to your professional profile. By completing this course, you will earn a qualification that will set you apart in the competitive job market and allow you to confidently deliver effective coaching and mentoring.
Throughout the duration of the course, learners will have access to comprehensive course materials, available on demand via virtual learning environment. During the coaching and mentoring sessions there will be progress reviews, an opportunity to further discuss the content of the programme, as well as focusing on Individual Professional Development, reflecting on skills development and individual target setting, and supporting those applying for a change of job role.
In the final weeks of the programme there will be interview preparation, visiting speaker talks and graduation!

Week 10 - Confidentiality and ethics
- How to support achievement and monitor progress, target setting
- Coaching and mentoring practical
Week 12 - Knowledge check and assignment preparation
- Plan and prepare a skills plan to enable learner to be successful in the specific field of coaching and mentoring
- Interview skills and techniques
- Mock interviews
Assessment: CMI Level 3 Award, written assignment completion – certificated by CMI. The course is considered as complete once attendance and bootcamp milestone evidence requirements are fulfilled.
Next steps: On the achievement of the course, learners will be able to confidently perform in a coaching and mentoring role, apply for relevant jobs, progress to higher qualifications and professional membership should they wish so.

Applicants for this course need to be either:
- Unemployed – committed to actively seeking employment opportunities independently during the course and provide evidence of a job interview and job offer within your subject area.
- Self-employed – If you are self-employed you are committed to building your business and provide evidence of a business plan that reflects the knowledge and skills, you have acquired and evidence of engagement with new clients.
- Employed – using the skills learnt in the Bootcamp to take on a new role or duties in your current role. Your employer will be asked to pay a contribution dependent on the size of the organisation.
To apply you will need to meet the following criteria:
- You were aged 19 on or before 31st August 2026.
- You have the right to work in the UK.
- English skills including written/spoken required with Level 1 being the minimum.
- You have not completed another Skills Bootcamp in this current financial year.
- You are committed to participating in all delivery sessions.
All applicants will be assessed at interview, this will include checking suitability related to where you live.
- Milestones and Outcomes

To support your success, all learners on the Coaching and Mentoring Bootcamp are expected to achieve key milestones. These are tailored to your employment status but ensure measurable progress for everyone.
For Unemployed Learners or Career Changers
- Milestone 1: Attendance Maintain consistent attendance and engagement throughout the course
- Milestone 2: Job Interview Secure a job interview during the course, supported by our dedicated mentor and careers team
- Milestone 3: Employment Outcome Gain employment within 6 months of completing the course
For Self-Employed Learners
- Milestone 1: Attendance Commit to attending and actively participating in all sessions
- Milestone 2: Business Action Plan Develop a clear and structured business action plan aligned to your goals
- Milestone 3: Implementation and Growth Implement your plan and provide evidence of business growth within 6 months of completing the course
For Employed Learners
- Milestone 1: Attendance Engage fully with the course and complete all required learning
- Milestone 2: Employer Development Plan Employer provides a declaration outlining your new or enhanced role, responsibilities, or duties
- Milestone 3: Demonstrated Impact Employer provides a follow-up declaration showing the impact of your new role or responsibilities within 6 months
