Overview
This qualification will give you breadth of knowledge and understanding across a broad range of issues relevant to the accountancy sector, but also equips you with the necessary occupational and core skills and behaviours to succeed in the industry. This course is aimed at learners who wish to progress into a career in accounting.

- What you will study

On this course you will:
- Learn the fundamental principles of financial accounting
- Understand financial principles, concepts, and practices and how they link to relevant accounting, bookkeeping and business mathematics requirements
- Develop an understanding of professionalism and ethics. You will explore professional conduct and responsibilities in the workplace as well as ethical dilemmas for the individual and the organisation
- Develop an awareness of key requirements of a data governance framework and understand methods and tools used to support decision making
- Undertake a substantial industry placement. You will complete a minimum of 315 hours of placement with an employer to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours

Students will be assessed in the form of externally set exams and a substantial project in year 1 and their grade will be A* – E.
In year 2 there will be a specialist project which will be graded Distinction* – Pass
These grades will then be combined to give an overall T level grade of Distinction* – Pass
- Entry requirements

You will need six GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths. Learners progressing from a T Level Foundation course will need a good Merit profile, along with English Language and Maths GCSE at grade 4 or above.
Progression and careers
On successful completion of the course, career options might include working as an accounts clerk, assistant accountant, or corporate recovery analyst. You can also develop your knowledge and skills further by progressing on to an apprenticeship, university, or our Foundation Degree in Business.

- How do the placement hours work?

Each student must complete 315 hours of work placement and this will consist of 1 day a week at an employer where they will gain knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- How long does the placement last?

The placement will last approximately 1 year if completed every week and with a 2 week block placement at the end of year 1.
- What employers have you worked with so far?
-
We have students placed in local accountancy firms, at the university and in local businesses.
- How is the T level graded?
-
In year 1 students will be given a grade A* – E, this is based on 2 paper exams and a project.
In year 2 they will be given a grade Distinction* – Pass which will be based on a specialised project.These grades are then combined to end up with a grade Distinction* – Pass.
- How do the combined grades compare to A Levels?
-
A Distinction on a T Level is equivalent to 3 A’s at A Level.
A Merit is equivalent to 3 B’s and a Pass equivalent to 3 C’s.
