- Why do this course?
-
This course is for students who have a passion for drama and performance and want to continue their exploration of the subject in a supportive, stretching and creative environment.
- What will it involve?
-
There will be a range of workshops offered introducing students to a variety of theatrical styles, companies, texts and dramatic ideas as well as practical skills.
Students will then get the opportunity to interrogate and investigate an aspect of Drama/performing arts that is of specific interest or relevance to them (for example: acting auditions, physical theatre, historical theatre). The course has a practical focus, allowing students to develop their skills and expertise as performers within a specific area.
You will have the opportunity to choose an area of practical performance to focus on as a group or an individual to research and explore in depth.
The course will conclude with a chance to share outcomes in the form of a performance presentation, seminar discussion or as part of a mini Arts Festival.
- How might it help in the future?
-
Students will develop a range of invaluable skills from being involved in this Extend course, from confidence in public speaking, team work, research skills and the ability to critique and evaluate in an academic and rigorous way. There will also be opportunities to engage with local companies such as the Northcott Theatre and The Bike Shed to enable learners to gain professional experiences and develop networking skills. The skills gained through this course will allow students to stand out from other applicants when applying to university or for employment in the Arts.
