This course is demanding and fast paced. You need to be willing to work independently for three or four hours a week in addition to attending your class regularly. Your teachers will be supportive and will guide you but you will also need to make use of online resources such as Maths Watch in order to succeed in the three exams at the end of the year.
What topics will I study?
The course prepares you for three final exams. It is fast paced and you are expected to do a considerable amount of independent study. You will study topics such as algebra, probability, trigonometry, shape and space and will need to demonstrate that you can interpret data, solve Equations and use a range of mathematical skills to solve problems.
Next steps: Access to Higher Education or a range of Level 3 qualifications.

No formal qualifications are needed to complete GCSE Maths, the course is for adults who have not achieved a grade 4 (grade C).
GCSE Maths is a key qualification and is suitable for native British learners or bilingual learners who have achieved ESOL Level 1 in reading, writing and speaking and listening.

As part of the Adult Skills Fund this course is free to anyone who has not yet achieved a grade 4 (Grade C) in Maths.
Additional Costs
You will need your own drawing instruments and a scientific calculator. We will also recommend text books, free websites and Apps for your smartphone.
