Community Gateway is designed for adult learners aged 19 – 24 with an EHCP who require additional support in their learning.

Overview

This course can take place at either the Hub for Independent Living & Learning (HILL) in Exeter or the Centre for Progression in Tiverton.

The course will help you to:

  • Progress towards independence
  • Improve skills for work and life
  • Develop communication skills
  • Gain experience of working with others
  • Learn in a supportive environment
  • Take part in volunteering opportunities, community projects and work experience

 

What topics will I study?

You will have:

  • Individual 1-1 tutorials to monitor progress, learning and targets
  • Opportunities to gain new skills and work on group tasks and individual projects
  • An Individual Learning Plan which sets targets for personalised learning
  • Practical hands on experience in the work place

You will also gain Maths and English qualifications, which will involve Coursework.

Future Steps: You can progress into a Supported Internships, Community Volunteering or Adult Social Care

You will have access to all the College facilities, including a student restaurant, full media suite, gym and a fully equipped Learning Resource Centre (LRC).
