Overview

This Apprenticeship Standard is aimed at experienced staff working in support roles in a specific clinical practice, alongside registered healthcare professionals. Your core responsibility will be to provide, supervise and coordinate high-quality and compassionate health and social care for a wide range of people.

This Foundation Degree Apprenticeship is the result of a collaboration between Exeter College and Plymouth Marjon University to support the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, this includes partnership with professionals to offer specialist pathways aligned to registered professions and employment.

You will study 12 modules, which include:

  • Providing high quality, evidence-based clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic care
  • Foundations of professional practice
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Communicating effectively
  • Communication and working in teams
  • Quality improvement, audit and research activities
  • Leading and integrating care
Entry Requirements

You will need to have one of the following:

  • 64 UCAS points
  • Three A Levels at grades DDD or above (at least one science subject)
  • BTEC National Diploma or QCF Extended Diploma (Healthcare or Applied Science)
  • Access to HE Diploma (Healthcare or Science)
  • T Level Health/Healthcare Science/ Science (grade C/4 or above in core elements)

Equivalent qualifications may be considered, including workplace delivered NVQs.

You will also need GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above.

Employer endorsement will also be needed for this Apprenticeship.

Facilities

You will study in a designated simulation suite, to include hospital, GP and community setting.

As an Apprentice, you will have full access to the College facilities including the Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

There is a refectory in the Hele Building which you can access when attending College.

Additional Costs

Books and resources required for study at Exeter College will all be provided. There may be suggested further reading that Apprentices can purchase but are not mandatory.
