Overview

This course is designed for learners who work in or wish to pursue a career within the hairdressing industry and this course will provide you with a range of essential practical skills and theory knowledge, which prepare you for employment or further training.

On this course you will: 

  • Learn a range of services, including client consultation, shampooing and conditioning, cutting women’s hair using basic techniques, colouring hair, styling and dressing 
  • Develop an understanding of safe working practices within the hairdressing industry 
  • Learn professional communication skills and the techniques to actively promote products and services  

Assessment: You will create a portfolio of evidence. Online examinations will also contribute to your coursework. You will be assessed continually throughout the academic year on your practical skills and underpinning knowledge.

The Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing provides the necessary foundation skills and knowledge that will prepare you for the industry or progression on to the next level.  

Future Steps: Following successful completion of this qualification, you may progress to employment or on to the VRQ3 Diploma in Hairdressing.  

 

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs (or equivalent, such as Level 1 Certificate in Hairdressing) at grade 3 or above, including English Language and Maths*

Facilities

There are five fully equipped beauty clinics and a Spa, providing you with a professional working environment. There are personal lockers and changing facilities for learners to use whilst they are at College.

You will have access to all the College facilities, including a student restaurant, full media suite, gym and a fully equipped Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

Additional Costs

You will be required to purchase a personal kit and uniform.

There are options to attend enrichment workshops and educational visits at an additional cost.

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and the European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course).
